Bauchi State government has trained local government hajj officers, facilitators of Bita Centres, religious organisations and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the 2024 hajj.
At a two-day training at the weekend at Gwallaga Jummu’at Mosque Bauchi, the secretary to the state government (SSG), Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim reitrated government commitment to continue to set the pace for others by according a desired priority to welfare of intending pilgrims.
He applauded Governor Bala Muhammad for his recent and quick response towards alleviating the pilgrims’ financial burden, following the increase of the Hajj fare by N1,918,032.91 due to the naira crash.
He noted that Bala Mohammed led-administration has paid the sum of about N1 million for each intending pilgrims to augment what was expected from intending pilgrims by NAHCON, stressing that many have already given up prior to the governor‘s intervention.
Kashim therefore called on the intending pilgrims to pray for the state government, peace and good future of Bauchi and the country at large while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Also, the state commissioner for religious affairs, Yakubu Hanza Darazo thanked the participants for their readiness to be trained and acknowledged the contribution of the facilitators at the Bita Centres over the years.
Darazo urged hajj affairs officers to take advantage of the training which would help them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Governor.
In their separate remarks, the special adviser to the governor on pilgrims affairs, Hon. Shehu Alh. Wadaji and the chairman of the board, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba acknowledged that Hajj 2024 has come with a lot of changes from Saudi Arabia and NAHCON.
